South Korean men’s tennis falls to Czech Republic 0-3 in Davis Cup second round match

The South Korean men’s national tennis team suffered its second straight loss in the group stage of the Davis Cup Finals.
South Korea lost 0-3 to the Czech Republic in the second match of Group C of the 2023 Davis Cup Finals in Valencia, Spain, on Thursday (Nov. 14).
A 0-3 loss to Serbia two days earlier dropped South Korea (2 L) to the bottom of the group.
If Serbia wins the match between Serbia (1W) and Spain (1L) on Friday, South Korea will finish second in the group and miss the quarterfinals.
If Spain defeats Serbia, South Korea has a glimmer of hope.
If Korea defeats Spain in the third match and the Czech Republic (2 wins) holds off Serbia, Korea, Spain, and Serbia will be tied at 1-2.
For Korea, Hong Seong-chan (194th-ranked Sejong City Hall) fell 1-2 (6-7<8-10> 6-4 2-6) to Tomasi Mahachi (119th) at No. 1 singles.
At No. 2 singles, Kwon Sun-woo (112th-Dangjin City Hall) fell 0-2 (1-6 5-7) to Irzi Rehetska (30th) to seal the Korean defeat.
In the final doubles match, Nam Ji-sung (126th-ranked doubles-Sejong City Hall) and Song Min-gyu (185th-ranked doubles-KDB Industrial Bank) fell 1-2 (6-3 6-7<5-7> 4-6) to Adam Pavlasek (57th-ranked doubles)-Yakup Mensik (151st-ranked singles). 안전놀이터
The Davis Cup Finals brings together the top 16 teams in the world and divides them into four groups, and this is the second year in a row that South Korea has reached the top 16 for the first time.
Last year, they lost three matches in the group stage and failed to advance to the quarterfinals, and this year, they came back from a 0-2 deficit to win 3-2 against Belgium in February to reach the round of 16.
