Liverpool legend’s take: “Man Utd spending 110.6 billion on Kasemir? That’s a stupid way to spend money”

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has criticized United in his column.

In his column, Carragher wrote: ‘Casemiro will end up costing United more money than Arsenal and Chelsea spent on Rice and Caicedo. The reason for this is that Casemiro is at a stage in his career where he will never be able to fully repay the huge transfer fee paid by United.

A key defensive midfielder in the Kakamo midfield at Real Madrid, Casemiro is a defensive and clutch midfielder who is very good at man-marking and protecting the back four. His passing and shooting abilities are quite good, so he is often involved in the offense.

After winning five Champions League titles and three league titles with Real Madrid, he left the club for a new challenge and joined United for €70 million. At United, he showed his class at Real, playing in a midfield that gave the Red Devils hope.

He was literally a force in the middle of the park and was a welcome addition to United’s defensive midfield insecurity following Fred and McTominay. However, his ups and downs as he approached 30 years of age and dwindling fitness showed that a midfield addition was needed to supplement his stamina.

“The signings of Rice and Caicedo are a sample of the signings to come,” said Carragher. We spent big money now to save money over the next six or seven years when both players will be in their roles. By no means do I think Casemiro is worth 70m. I’m not questioning that he’s a world-class player.” 바카라사이트

He added: “He’s a good but old player who was a panic buy a year ago after failing to sign De Jong from Barcelona, and signed for a huge fee to appease disgruntled fans, despite having to spend a similar amount of money on a replacement two years later. That’s how unwise United were. With four years left on Casemiro’s contract, they are still carrying a financial burden.”

At the moment, United are looking at a number of defensive midfielders because they don’t think Casemiro can hold down the fort alone. However, with top midfielders like Rabia, Caicedo and Rice having joined other big clubs, United have been linked with the likes of Sofiane Amrabat.
