Kim Sang-soo was batting in the top of the eighth inning with SSG trailing 0-1. With the count 3B-2S, Kim check-swung at a slider from Moon Seung-won, but the first base umpire ruled that the bat didn’t turn. There was some ambiguity in the replay.

At this point, Coach Kim Won-hyung came out onto the field with Coach Cho Won-woo and made a strong protest to the first base umpire. Kim continued his protest with an unusually uncomfortable tone, and was eventually ejected. Kim remained unhappy after the ejection order, asking why he was ejected.

Third base umpire Lee Min-ho took the microphone and said, “I’m ejecting you for protesting the umpire’s decision.”

It was the 19th ejection of the season and the ninth for Kim. It was Kim’s first ejection of the season.
